EXPERIENCE
Trespass in Great Yarmouth
Background
DWD are instructed across the four home nations to manage and appeal Trespass’s business rates assessments
Challenge
Trespass’s shops cover a wide geographic area. Trespass needed a firm with national coverage and yet the compact owner managed ethos to really care about the detail and about delivering results.
DWD Service
Chris Baker, a member of the DWD Business Rates Team, inspected and conducted a full measured survey of Trespass’s shop in Great Yarmouth as part of wider programme to investigate the appeal opportunities across their wider portfolio. Following our inspection and the associated research an appeal was lodged to challenge the VO’s valuation.
Outcome
Following negotiations on the facts of the valuation and the basis adopted the rateable value was reduced from £56,500 to £42,000 with effect from 1 April 2017.
In addition, we were able to obtain a favourable transitional relief certificate, which increased the total saving on this one store alone to over £49,000.
