Chris Baker

Chris is a Senior Associate in the Business Rates team at DWD and has over 25 years’ experience in the Commercial Property Sector working primarily in London, the Southeast and East Anglia.

Chris has previously worked at CBRE, JLL and Barker Storey Matthews before joining DWD. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1998 and has since been a General Practice Surveyor, for the past circa 10 years specializing in Business Rates and Landlord and Tenant work. In terms of business rates, he has taken cases to Valuation Tribunal as an Expert Witness, in particular achieving notable success at VT at Somerset House, The Strand, London which resulted in the tone at this iconic property being reduced.

He has completed appeals in all sector types including retail, office and industrial and also Specialist assessments for Pubs, Hotels and Private Members Clubs. He is a member of the Rating Surveyors Association.

Chris has also completed valuations for various purposes including formal Red Book valuations for loan security and other purposes and is a Registered Valuer.
