Andrew Deller
Andrew joined DWD in October 2017 and became Operations Director in April 2026. In this role, he is responsible for supporting the Managing Director with the day-to-day running of the business and the management of the DWD Planning Team.
He is also a chartered town planner with 18 years of experience as a planning practitioner in the private sector, including five years in New Zealand. His experience spans all sectors of planning and has advised FTSE 100 and 250 companies, housebuilders, smaller developers and landowners, educational institutions, private companies and high-net-worth individuals.
Andrew leads a large team that is adept at assembling and leading individual multi-disciplinary project teams, with adaptability that has resulted in a strong track record in successfully obtaining all types of complex planning permissions in London and across all regions of the UK.
Andrew specialises in the management of large property portfolios, providing strategic planning advice that supports effective investment/divestment decisions for his longstanding clients. This expertise has developed from his extensive experience and strong intuitive understanding of clients’ commercial objectives. His principal approach is to foster relationship-building with key stakeholders through effective communication, coupled with applying robust technical planning knowledge and sound evidence cases.
Andrew is not afraid to take on complex planning appeals and litigation planning case work. He has co-ordinated and appeared as an expert planning witness at planning hearings and public inquiries against local authorities both in and outside of London, and prepared planning expert reports for use in litigation and mediation proceedings.
Notable projects:
789-799 Old Kent Road, Southwark (2023-2026): In May 2026, Andrew secured full planning permission for redevelopment of this site for the construction of a 10-storey industrial-led mixed-use development comprising a self-storage facility, light industrial / affordable workspace units and a replacement supermarket. This project represents a significant piece of urban repair in the area, alongside the renewal of the Tustin Estate, that required extensive engagement and trust-building with the community.
66 Hammersmith Road, West Kensington (2021-2024): In August 2024, Andrew secured full planning permission after the Planning Inspectorate allowed an appeal overcoming four reasons for refusal following a four-day public inquiry. The scheme comprised the redevelopment of the site immediately adjacent to the Future Olympia (formerly Olympia Exhibition Centre) development comprising a new 11-storey building containing a self-storage facility, affordable workspace and a community space. Once built it will be the largest self-storage facility in Europe.
Alpha House, Regis Road, Kentish Town (2021-2024): In July 2024, Andrew secured full planning permission after the Planning Inspectorate allowed an appeal overcoming 10 reasons for refusal following a five-day public inquiry. The scheme comprised the redevelopment on a piecemeal basis of a centrally located site within the Regis Road Growth Area for a five-storey industrial development. Andrew also successfully argued a reduction to the CIL liability of over £1 million.
Related Argent, Brent Cross Town (2018-2023): Andrew acted as a key planning advisor for Related Argent during the early-stage development of Brent Cross Town. In April 2019, Andrew secured reserved matters approval for Plot 11 comprising 352 residential units, flexible retail (Use Classes A1/A3) and a Neighbourhood Police Unit. He has also obtained approval for the ‘Exploratory Park’ (temporary public open space), the replacement Claremont Primary School, the Visitor Pavilion and the iconic entrance to the new Brent Cross West train station.
55-59 Lombard Road, Battersea (2016-2019): Andrew has secured full planning permission for the phased redevelopment of this site for a residential-led mixed use development comprising buildings ranging from 1-20 storeys in height accommodating 168 residential units, offices, ground floor retail, an upgraded self-storage facility and an artists’ studio.
Colindale Gardens (former Peel Centre), Colindale (2015-2017): In a previous role, Andrew advised Redrow with the implementation of a hybrid planning permission for the redevelopment of a 29 hectare former Metropolitan Police Service training centre site for 2,900 homes, a neighbourhood centre (up to 10,000m2 of commercial floorspace and a major food store), and primary school. Andrew provided strategic planning advice, led liaison with the LB Barnet and managed numerous Reserved Matters applications, minor material (s73) and non-material amendment (s96a) applications, and the phased discharge of planning conditions.
