DWD Business Rates Payment Service for Prezzo

Background 

Prezzo were looking for opportunities to free up head office resources and reduce overhead.

Challenge

To complement our existing rating appeal instructions, we developed a bespoke rate payment service that met Prezzo’s needs following their recent administration and corporate restructuring.

DWD Service

Richard Bason, a member of the DWD business Rates Team, heads up the provision of a full rate payment services to Prezzo Restaurants Ltd.  

The service we provided involves the rate demands coming to DWD for checking and authorisation.  A monthly request for funds is submitted  for around £500,000 and paid into a client account. Once monies are received c.160 BACS payments are made  to Local Authorities as payment for client’s rates each month.

DWD also provided the effective management of the Covid related retail hospitality and leisure relief schemes, ensuring that Prezzo’s maximum entitlement was realised within the rules and regulations of each scheme.

Outcome

Prezzo now have accurate and timely control of the rate payment process, which frees up both resources and cashflow, and ensures only the correct liabilities are paid.

Prezzo also benefit from improved effectiveness in managing new and closed accounts, as well as improved speed in realising savings from exemption claims and rateable value reductions.
