DWD are specialists in the field of Business Rates advice with a particular expertise in electricity generation assets. We advise a number of clients across several technologies including traditional gas fired generation (CCGT/OCGT), Battery Storage (BESS), large scale Solar/PV and providers of stability projects such as synchronous compensators.
Our sole aim, through proactive management of our clients’ portfolio of assets, is to secure the lowest reasonable level of business rates liability that is possible. As well as challenges to underlying levels of Rateable Value, we regularly implement strategies to take advantage of opportunities to secure reliefs and exemptions permitted through the various legislative instruments.
Having identified opportunities with both clients for potential mitigation of business rates liability, DWD prepared cases to present to the respective Local Billing Authorities. With our detailed knowledge of case law and the specific regulations, we then engaged in comprehensive negotiations over a number of months, successfully overturning an adverse decision in one case.
