The Klinger Building, Bromley

DWD has secured planning and listed building consent at planning committee for Chancerygate for partial demolition and redevelopment of the grade II listed Klinger factory and associated buildings to provide 15 units to be used for B1(c), B2 and B8 uses comprising approximately 160,000sqft. The site is located in Bromley however the site’s access is within Bexley.

DWD provided strategic planning advice throughout the design of the scheme and managed both the planning and listed building consent application with Bromley and a corresponding access application with Bexley. Consultation was also held with Transport for London (TfL).

The scheme retains the most significant parts of the Klinger factory from a heritage perspective and represents a sympathetic and effective reuse of the site. The Klinger factory itself will be occupied by a B8 self-storage company while the other units have a flexible consent for a range of B class uses.

The application involved extensive collaboration with the London Borough of Bromley planning department, Historic England and Transport for London in order to agree a high quality scheme.

The cross boundary location of the site required a separate access application that was made to the London Borough of Bexley. DWD subsequently successfully discharged relevant planning conditions to allow Chancerygate to commence development in line with their project timetable.
