EXPERIENCE
Ferrybridge ‘D’ CCGT, West Yorkshire
DWD has advised SSE on its proposals to construct and operate a new gas fired power station on the site of the former Ferrybridge ‘C’ Power Station, and a 9km gas pipeline connection to the existing National Transmission System Feeder 29 near Gateforth in North Yorkshire. The project would comprise up to 1,900MW of the most advanced CCGT gas turbine technology (‘J-class’), and up to 299MW of flexible open cycle gas turbine generation.
As the project represents a ‘Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project’ under the Planning Act 2008, it requires a Development Consent Order (DCO) from the Secretary of State.
DWD has acted as lead consultant for the multidisciplinary team supporting SSE. This has included leading on consultation strategy, the management of non statutory and statutory rounds of pre application consultation, leading engagement with the three host local planning authorities and the Planning Inspectorate, and preparing key application documents.
