DWD are involved in the Chelmsford Garden Community project.
The development is designed as a Garden Community model for the 21st century where it is not just the best of town and country, but also the best of neighbourhoods and nature too.
It will deliver around 10,000 new homes, 45,000sqm employment space and a wide range of sustainable facilities and services to create a self-supporting community and reduce the need for outward journeys. Public transport will be promoted the with a new train station delivered by Network Rail.
The Developer Consortium of Countryside L&Q, Ptarmigan Land, and Halley Developments are working in collaboration with Chelmsford City Council (CCC) and Essex County Council (ECC). The consultant team includes DWD, led by Barry Murphy and supported by James Smith, who are responsible for the town planning element of the development.
Chelmsford Garden Community is designed to offer the best of town and country living. It builds on the success of the neighbouring award winning scheme at Beaulieu, which the DWD Planning team worked on.
The consultation ran from Tuesday 24 May until Tuesday 21 June 2022 and follow on from the Online Public Exhibition and Live Zoom Introduction Presentation, held November 2021.
