Mia Scaggiante

Mia joined DWD in the summer of 2024, and is a Chartered Town Planner with more than 17 years planning experience across the public and private sectors.

Mia has experience on a wide range of projects in the industrial, energy, commercial, utilities, residential and community sectors. She takes a leading role in the strategic and day-to-day project management and programming of planning and DCO applications, as well as advising and supporting clients in implementing and constructing schemes.

At DWD, Mia is advising on, and project managing the client/consultant team during the DCO Examination for H2Teesside Project, which will be one of the UK’s largest blue hydrogen production facilities. She is also part of the planning team advising on the early stages of the Ferrybridge Next Generation Power Station Project, which will be designed to run on 100% hydrogen fuel. Mia has also advised VPI on various planning matters related to power station facilities and associated development.

Prior to DWD, for the past decade, Mia has worked in private planning practice consultancy roles and advised national housebuilders, Registered Providers, local planning authority clients, as well as private developers and landowners. Mia started her planning career in local authorities – at the London Borough of Wandsworth and then at the City of Westminster in their development control teams.

Mia has also participated and lead various Local Plan Examination in Public hearings and promoted site allocations, as well as advising on amending and implementing schemes (discharging planning conditions/Section 106 obligations, Section73/Section 96A application) and all other planning input during the build and delivery stages. She has also led, participated and supported various appeals, including Public Inquiries, Hearings and Written Representations, as well as advising on complex Community Infrastructure Levy matters.
